Or perhaps, just someone to conduct a civil wedding, without further ado?
My offer to you consists of several sessions in preparation of your special day and married life:
- During a first obligation free meeting, we get to know each other and discuss your wedding ideas and preferences.
- If you choose me as your marriage officer after this session, it is followed by an (optional) course designed to assist you in better understanding yourself and your partner – in a way that will help you deal with any differences you may encounter in your marriage. However, if you prefer to skip this step, you are free to do so.
- In a final meeting shortly before your wedding, we confirm our arrangements and finalise the paperwork.
In preparation of the ceremony, we will talk about:
- What theme it should be based on
- What language(s) you prefer ~ {English/Afrikaans/German}
- The music you would like to incorporate
- Any other elements – personal texts, special vows you would like to include, or family / friends you want to involve.
About myself {Dieter Harms (Rev. Emeritus) ~ Marriage Officer}:
I am fluent in English, German and Afrikaans and an ordained minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, thereby also a licensed Marriage Officer. I have served in several congregations throughout KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng until my early retirement in 1998.
Ever since, I have carried on with the part of my work that I enjoy most: working with individual couples and preparing them for a lifetime together. Whilst I continue to do relief work in congregations around Gauteng and beyond, my main focus is on weddings.
Meeting people from around the world and every walk of life is what makes this an especially enjoyable task for me and I am looking forward to continually offering my services to bridal couples in the future.
