ALL DRESSED UP | Your wedding dress may look fine

ALL DRESSED UP | Your wedding dress may look fine when you hang it up after the celebration, but wedding-day stains are not always as innocent as they seem.
ㅤ
After hours of photos, hugs, dancing and outdoor moments, most gowns collect something: dust along the hemline, grass or mud, make-up, sweat, perfume, champagne, wine or food spills. Some marks show straight away. Others hide in the fabric and only begin to yellow or darken months later.
ㅤ
Many brides plan to clean their dress “later”, but waiting too long can allow stains to set permanently into delicate fabrics like lace, silk or tulle.
ㅤ
That is where @thedresseditsa comes in. Specialising in professional cleaning, refresh, restoration and preservation for wedding dresses, veils, suits and delicate occasion garments, their team cares for pieces that need more than standard dry cleaning.
ㅤ
Wedding dresses often include lace, beading, embroidery, boning, layers and couture detail. The wrong process can damage a gown permanently, so specialist treatment matters. The Dress Edit uses gentle techniques designed for bridal garments, treating each piece while protecting the fabric and detail.
ㅤ
Their services include pre- and post-wedding dress cleaning, veil and suit care, stain removal, dress refresh, restoration and bridal gown preservation boxes, helping guard against light, dust, moisture and environmental exposure.
ㅤ
They also support boutiques, rental businesses and brides choosing preloved or second-hand gowns, helping garments feel fresh and ready to be loved again.
ㅤ
Reviews speak warmly about professionalism and attention to detail, with one bride saying The Dress Edit exceeded expectations on her wedding dress and veil.
ㅤ
For anyone wanting to clean, refresh, restore or preserve a wedding garment, The Dress Edit will handle it beautifully.

ALL DRESSED UP | Dressing the men in a wedding par

ALL DRESSED UP | Dressing the men in a wedding party is not just about finding suits in the right sizes. There is the groom, groomsmen, fathers, page boys, colour choices, timelines, fittings, comfort, photographs, and the small details that help everyone look like they belong together without feeling copied and pasted.
ㅤ
That is where @suitupsuithire in Westville makes the process easier. This family-run business has been helping men and boys dress well for weddings, matric dances, business functions, and formal occasions since 2013, with a focus on friendly service, proper fit, and an organised experience from the start.
ㅤ
Suit Up offers high-quality formal and fashion suits for hire, with the option to purchase where needed. Their range caters for men and boys, with limited plus-size options available, and fittings are by appointment only so each client gets dedicated time and attention. No rushed walk-ins. No quick “try this and hope for the best” approach.
ㅤ
Fit is a big part of the service. With in-house tailoring, the team can assist with alterations to jackets, trousers, and shirts so the final look feels polished and comfortable. They also create tailor-made accessories such as waistcoats, ties, cravats, and bow ties, especially useful for couples wanting the wedding party coordinated without becoming too matchy-matchy.
ㅤ
Reviews mention quality suits, reasonable pricing, friendly and attentive service, excellent advice, professional fittings, and tailoring that helped the suit fit perfectly. One client described Suit Up as a “one stop shop for all formal occasion attire”.
ㅤ
For couples wanting the groom, groomsmen, fathers, and boys to look smart, feel comfortable, and be fitted with minimal stress, Suit Up Suit Hire offers a polished, practical way to get everyone suited for the day.

ALL DRESSED UP | Some jewellery catches the eye be

ALL DRESSED UP | Some jewellery catches the eye because it sparkles. Some because it feels like it could only have been made by that artist.
ㅤ
That is the quiet magic of @penelopejardinejewellery. Based in the KZN Midlands, Penelope is a goldsmith with 37 years of experience hand-making fine jewellery in gold, platinum, silver, precious metals, and gemstones. Her work includes engagement rings, wedding bands, bridal party pieces, custom commissions, special occasion jewellery, and the remodelling of old family pieces.
ㅤ
What makes Penelope’s work so distinctive is the artistry behind it. Her pieces do not feel pulled from a standard catalogue or shaped by passing trends. Each one is handmade by Penelope in her workshop, with the care, detail, and personalisation that come from a maker’s hands and an artist’s eye.
ㅤ
An engagement ring or wedding band becomes part of everyday life, part of a love story, and often part of a family’s future. Penelope’s gift is creating jewellery that is personal without losing refinement; wearable, meaningful, and unmistakably individual.
ㅤ
She also works beautifully with inherited jewellery, helping clients reimagine existing family pieces into something newly wearable. That balance between sentiment and fresh design is valuable for couples wanting to honour what came before while creating something right for this chapter.
ㅤ
A client review says that on discovering Penelope’s Instagram, he was struck by the inspired creativity behind each item and had “never seen rings like that before”. Working with Penny was described as warm, friendly, patient, collaborative, and an absolute delight, with a final engagement ring that was nothing short of spectacular.
ㅤ
For couples wanting jewellery that carries the workmanship of an experienced goldsmith and the originality of an artist, Penelope Jardine Jewellery is a beautiful recommendation.

ALL DRESSED UP | A bridal headpiece does not have

ALL DRESSED UP | A bridal headpiece does not have to compete with the dress to carry presence.
ㅤ
Sometimes it is the piece closest to the face that changes the whole feeling of the look: a crown, beaded headband, floral adornment, or sculptural detail chosen because it feels personal, powerful, and unmistakably you.
ㅤ
That is the world Pamella Nkosi has created through @ndlunkuluthequeen_bridal. A self-taught visual artist and lover of design, Pamella handcrafts floral and beaded crowns, headpieces, and adornments for women who want their final bridal look to carry beauty, meaning, and identity.
ㅤ
Ndlunkulu means queen, and Pamella’s work is driven by a desire to glorify and enhance the beauty of women who are queens from the inside out. Her pieces are not decoration alone; they are created to honour the women wearing them.
ㅤ
Using silk flowers for realism and longevity, Pamella combines floral elements with beadwork and sculptural detail. Some pieces feel soft and romantic. Others are bolder, more regal, or culturally expressive, including crowns, statement hats, and isicholo pieces — a traditional Zulu headdress.
ㅤ
Since establishing Ndlunkulu the Queen in 2020, Pamella has created 300+ crowns and headpieces, with her work recognised by well-known South African personalities. Clients describe her work as unique, delicate, breathtaking, beautifully packaged, and “fit for royalty”. One said she felt like a queen at her event, with everyone drawn to the isicholo hat Pamella had created.
ㅤ
A headpiece can echo the dress, soften the hairstyle, add floral or beaded detail, or bring cultural and personal meaning into the final look. Subtle or striking, when made with care, it becomes part of how the bride carries herself.
ㅤ
For brides wanting a handcrafted headpiece with artistry, sentiment, and presence, Ndlunkulu the Queen is a beautiful way to finish the look.

ALL DRESSED UP | Wedding dress shopping should fee

ALL DRESSED UP | Wedding dress shopping should feel exciting! At @melizamarybridal in Durban, brides are welcomed into a studio that understands the realness of the process: nerves, budget conversations, “I have no idea what suits me” moments, and the hope of finding a dress that feels yours.

At the heart of it all is Meliza, a qualified fashion designer and image consultant with 16+ years in bridal. Warm, funny, down-to-earth, and deeply experienced, she loves dressing real women: curves, proportions, insecurities, personality, quirks, and all.

The studio is curated rather than overwhelming, with more than one way to find the right dress: order an imported gown new in your size, choose a locally designed gown, fall for a sample, discover a preloved beauty, or hire a designer look without the full purchase commitment.

Private appointments offer focused guidance, while Wednesday Open Days give brides a relaxed way to browse and try on. Mel and her team meet each bride where she is, with honest advice, a trained eye, and enough humour to make the fitting room feel less scary.

Reviews speak about brides feeling comfortable, beautiful, confident, and properly cared for. One bride who had always seen herself as a “bigger girl” said dress shopping felt daunting, but Meliza made her feel so confident that she ended up enjoying it.

Meliza Mary also offers veils, accessories, shawls, robes, bridesmaid wrap dresses, and locally made pieces for the wedding party.

For brides wanting dress shopping to feel relaxed, honest, body-aware, and full of personality, Meliza Mary Bridal Wear is a beautiful fit. Mel will help you find the dress that feels like you.

ALL DRESSED UP | Jewellery is one of the few weddi

ALL DRESSED UP | Jewellery is one of the few wedding details that remains once the day is done. An engagement ring, wedding band, eternity ring, remodelled heirloom, or special piece becomes part of everyday life; worn, noticed, remembered, and often carried into a family’s story.
ㅤ
Led by father-daughter team David and Lauren, @davidbatchelordesigns brings more than 50 years of collective experience to fine, contemporary jewellery made with skill, care, and individuality.
ㅤ
David has been creating bespoke jewellery since 1981, after completing his Diploma in Jewellery Design and qualifying as a Goldsmith. Today, the workshop creates made-to-order pieces, from engagement rings and wedding jewellery to African art jewellery, remodelling work, and special commissions.
ㅤ
The workmanship sits at the heart of the experience. Each piece is handmade in the workshop by David and skilled craftspeople, with careful attention given to materials, settings, proportions, and finish. Gold, platinum, silver, certified diamonds and gemstones can all become part of a design that feels personal rather than off the shelf.
ㅤ
Their process is collaborative and reassuring. David and Lauren work by appointment, taking time to understand each client’s preferences, ideas, budget, and the story behind the piece, whether they are commissioning something new, resetting a wedding ring, or remodelling jewellery that already carries family meaning.
ㅤ
The reviews reflect both craft and care: calm guidance, excellent workmanship, extra-mile service, and pieces that feel unique and deeply personal.
ㅤ
For couples wanting jewellery that is personal and beautifully made, David Batchelor Designs is a very special place to begin.

ALL DRESSED UP | When the fit is right, the groomi

ALL DRESSED UP | When the fit is right, the grooming is sharp and the details have been chosen with care, a man carries himself differently.
ㅤ
For grooms wanting a custom wedding suit, @armitageoutfitters offers a personal approach to men’s wedding style, built around craftsmanship, fit, fabric, grooming, and confidence.
ㅤ
A wedding places the groom in one of the most visible roles of his life. He will be photographed from every angle, stand alongside his partner, greet guests, give speeches, and carry all the emotion that comes with the day. His suit should feel comfortable and true to him.
ㅤ
Armitage’s process begins with a conversation: event style, the look he wants, colour direction, design preferences, and even a swatch from his partner’s outfit or event palette. With more than 100 premium fabrics, in-house tailoring, precise measurements, and choices around buttons, collars, pockets, linings, and finishing touches, every suit is created for the man wearing it.
ㅤ
The team helps each choice feel aligned with the occasion, from lightweight linen for a coastal wedding to wool or cashmere for a formal celebration. Add a custom lining, pocket square, polished shoes, and a final press before the suit is packed and ready.
ㅤ
Grooming can also be part of the lead-up, with barber services, traditional shaves, facials, head massages, and treatment room offerings to help the groom feel prepared before the day arrives.
ㅤ
Clients describe Armitage as “the best in the business” and a store where every visit is an absolute pleasure, reflecting the welcoming, polished service Neville Armitage and his team have built.
ㅤ
For grooms and wedding parties wanting a luxury style experience with craftsmanship, Armitage Outfitters is an exceptional choice.

ALL DRESSED UP | Wedding dress shopping can bring

ALL DRESSED UP | Wedding dress shopping can bring up more emotion than many brides expect. Excitement, nerves, body confidence, budget worries, long-held ideas, changing opinions from loved ones — sometimes all in the same appointment.

That is where @amourbridalboutique in Kloof has built such a strong reputation. Led by the mother-and-daughter team of Pauline and Amy, A’mour offers a private, one-on-one bridal experience where each bride is given time, guidance, and the space to feel comfortable before making one of the most personal style decisions of her wedding journey.

A’mour stocks international designer ranges, exclusive KZN collections, their own Diamond Collection, bespoke gowns, bridesmaids and flower girl options, as well as jewellery and veils. The range includes statement gowns, softer romantic designs, beautifully constructed options for curvier brides, international styles, and gowns across different price points.

But what comes through most strongly in the reviews is not only the dresses. Brides speak about arriving nervous, overwhelmed, or even dreading the shopping process, and leaving feeling beautiful, heard, relaxed, and excited. Several found their dress at the very first appointment, not because they were rushed, but because Amy and the team listened carefully, understood what suited them, and helped them move from uncertainty to clarity.

There is also practical support beyond the purchase, with in-house alterations, fitting guidance, cleaning, repairs, and a Help to Sell service available for selected gowns. For those wanting a more celebratory appointment, A’mour’s optional VIP consultation adds champagne, nibbles, extra time, and space to savour the moment with loved ones.

For brides wanting a boutique with an impressive dress selection and a team who know how to make the fitting experience feel personal and joyful, A’mour Bridal Boutique is a beautiful place to begin.
