Vix Photography

Hello, I am Vicky van der Watt (Vix) from Vix Photography, based in Howick, the heart of the beautiful Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands!  I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and a mommy of two busy little boys.  My absolute passion is to document the natural moments when you think nobody is watching, and to tell visual stories.  At a wedding, there are so many fleeting instances that you might not remember, which I want to portray in your images.

I want your photos to reflect your emotion on the day and to make you look back in wonder and exhilaration.

When living in the UK for 8 years, I learned to appreciate that family is everything and to never take a single moment for granted. I started to enjoy doing street photography when in London and that has been a part of my creative journey, just observing, noticing and capturing.  Film photography is also a bit of an inspiration to me, there is just something magical about trusting yourself in the moment to capture what you see through the lens, but only seeing the result when you developed the film in a lab.  These days it is much easier with instant digitals but how satisfying that must have been!   

I am a hopeless romantic, and a down-to-earth person, and I love connecting with and meeting new people. 

Natural light photography inspires me. Light creates ambience – it can be dramatic, soft, sensual and evocative. It is the ultimate tool in creating art.

If I had to describe my style it would be vibrant, moody but natural with a romantic twist.  I find inspiration and beauty in all the little details, and love documenting your loved ones enjoying your special day with you.
